Founded in 1692, Taylor’s is one of the oldest port houses in the Douro Valley. An independent family business, dedicated exclusively to the production
of port and considered the benchmark for vintage ports worldwide.
Originating from the steep Quintas Vargellas, Terra Feita, Junco, Casa Nova and Eira
Velha, these vintage ports are distinguished by their elegance and balance
as well as their strength and longevity. Taylor’s also has large
reserves of wood-matured port, from which beautiful old tawnies are created,
including the legendary Single Vintage Tawny from 1863. Last but not least,
Taylor’s was the creator of the ever-successful Late Bottled Vintage and
is still the leading producer of that port style to this day.
CLIMATE & TERROIR: A climate with warm summers and cold
winters. The terroir mainly has elements of weathered granite and
slate. VINIFICATION: After the intensive soaking period, fermentation starts and the alcohol percentage can increase. When approximately 8% is reached, the process is stopped by adding wine alcohol and the wine matures for 10 years in 630-litre oak barrels.

NOISE & TASTE: Rich and elegant aroma of ripe berry fruit
combined with delicate notes of nuts, chocolate, butterscotch
and oak.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Served slightly chilled, fantastic in
combination with desserts of red fruit, chocolate or
blue cheeses.
