The history of Adelphi is long and varied. The original Loch Katrine Adelphi Distillery was founded in 1826. After a disaster with a washback in 1907, the production of malt whisky stopped in 1908. In 1932, the distillation of grain whisky also stopped. With the cessation of the warehouse activities and the total demolition in 1971, an eventful past came to an end. Since 1984, a mosque has been located on the site of the distillery. The name was revived with the establishment of Adelphi as an independent bottler. In 2007, the first plans for an own distillery were made. The Ardnamurchan distillery is beautifully situated on a bay on the peninsula of the same name. After official permission was granted in 2012, construction began in 2013 in Glenbeg, Argyll in the Western Highlands. Production started in 2014 and the first bottling followed in 2016. Of course, this is not yet whisky, which will follow for the first time in 2021. The distillery's production, after doubling in 2018, amounts to 400,000 L.P.A.
