In early 2014, peated malt was so scarce there it was well-nigh impossible to procure it. In this situation, the father of Indian single malt whisky, Shri Neelakanta Rao R. Jagdale, chairman and managing director of Amrut Distilleries Pvt Ltd made a bold move to carry out our own peating. In due course, this decision led to making our own peated barley malt with peat sourced from Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The single malt produced with Indian 6-row barley, peated with peat from Scotland is so delightful and so unlie any other peated malt that it is another testimony to our skill in whisky-making.
The first release of Little Greedy Angels 8 years old is dedicated to Neel, as our CMD is fondly called.
