The hand-picked grapes for the Scaia Bianca from Tenuta Sant'Antonio come from the chalky volcanic soil (Scaia) in the province of Verona. The different varieties are fermented separately in cooled stainless steel vats without oxygen having the chance to reach the must. In this modern way it is still possible to make fresh wines from grapes from very warm areas. The wine is then assembled with a little more garganega in proportion. This makes the Scaia Bianca under its glass seal a clear straw yellow colour with a slightly green hue.

The wine is very fragrant and has intense and complex flavours of acacia, jasmine, pineapple, grapefruit and orange. You can also detect a hint of apple, pear, mango and even a bit of banana. In the mouth the Scaia Bianca is soft and fresh with a nice balance and a wonderful Italian bitterness in the aftertaste. CLIMATE & TERROIR: The summers are warm, the winters relatively mild.
The soils consist of a thin layer of limestone, pebbles, clay and sand.
VINIFICATION: The different varieties are fermented separately
in cooled stainless steel vats. In this way it is possible to
still make fresh wines from grapes from very warm areas.
GRAPES: garganega (55%), chardonnay (45%)

Softly fresh with a nice balance and a wonderful Italian bitterness in the
aftertaste.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Delicious as an aperitif or with various
dishes. Particularly tasty with crab or scallops.
FACT: The name Scaia refers to the soil. The soil
where the grapes grow consists of white, chalky
lime and contains a lot of chips. These chips are called scaia
in the region.
