The whiskies bottled in the Cadenhead's Enigma series are just that – unusual, hard to quantify, perhaps even slightly contradictory. They can be single casks, vattings of multiple casks, blends, blended malts or whatever else we can find that doesn't fit into our existing bottling lineup but meets our only essential criteria – that they're good.
We don't have much information about the composition of this 25-year-old blend, but we can tell you that it is a wonderfully round dram that will appeal to many.
This blended whiskey is fully matured in refilled sherry casks and has notes of walnuts and caramel in the nose. The taste is sweet, with notes of toffee, fudge, chocolate-covered raisins and Madeira cake. This sweetness continues into the finish with notes of strawberry sauce, plums and a touch of sour sorbet to round it all off.
