Extra Info about the Domaine Dupont Fahn Chardonnay:
The small renowned Domaine Dupont-Fahn is located in Burgundy, for connoisseurs right next to the wine village of Meursault. The winery was founded in 1975 by Dupont-Fahn's grandfather. The Chardonnay vines were planted in 1929. Now beautiful wines are produced that are not inferior to many premium crus, even though this area does not have this classification.
The name Dupont-Fahn is a combination of the name of his father, winemaker, and the name of his mother, a well-known American family that imports wines.
The wines of this winery differ slightly in taste from the wines from the area. The owner is a bit quirky. For example, he also makes a rosé in a region that originally only houses Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. That is why he is an odd one out in that respect. He also harvests very late in the season.
As a result, the yields of the vineyard are actually always somewhat lower, but the taste is much firmer and more exuberant than many of its neighbours. This is why we also recommend drinking this wine young. The wine is matured for ten months in oak barrels. This leads to an intense, ripe and exotic tasting Chardonnay with a nice long finish.
The well-known wine producer Dupont Fahn has planted some grapes in the Languedoc in addition to his plot in Burgundy. The nice thing about this is that his way of winemaking is the same as in Burgundy, only he does not have to ask the same price for it. The result is a very good price-quality ratio with Burgundy-like allure.
