CLIMATE & TERROIR: The Darmagi vineyard is located in the Barbaresco area, where a temperate continental climate prevails.
VINIFICATION: The grapes are fermented in tanks at around 16°C.
Fermentation and maceration last around three weeks and are
followed by 24 months of maturation in wood.
GRAPES: Cabernet Sauvignon
ALCOHOL PERCENTAGE: 14.00%
NOISE & TASTE: Deep red and powerful with firm cassis aromas and
soft tannins. A fantastic alternative to any
great Cabernet Sauvignon with great maturation potential.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Excellent accompaniment to grilled or
roasted meats and mature hard cheeses.
FACT: Angelo’s father Giovanni muttered “darmagi” (what a
shame) in 1978 as he and his son drove past one of the vineyards where the traditional Nebbiolo had been replaced by foreign Cabernet
Sauvignon. Angelo then named the wine Darmagi.
