The German Gewürz means loosely translated into Dutch spicy. It will therefore come as no surprise that the name gewürztraminer was chosen for the grape from which the eponymous dusty, spicy wine is made. The bunches are pressed immediately after harvest and arrival in the cellar. The cloudy juice is transferred to tanks in which the coarser sediment can settle to the bottom in two days. This is removed and fermentation can begin. The wine then remains on its lees for a long time: the dead and exhausted yeast cells that ensure the release of even more beautiful aromas in the wine.
With its scent and taste of lychee, honey and rose petals, the wine is very recognizable as gewürztraminer. Due to its mild taste, spices, beautiful round structure with pleasant acidity and full length, this wine is particularly suitable as an accompanying glass of strong-smelling runny cheeses and blue molds, sweet and sour Chinese food, curries, tandoori chicken and various other exotic dishes. Drink within six years of harvest.
