Tasting notes:
Nose: enchanting. An exceptional sensation of old Russian leather, honey and prickly pear.
Taste: exceptional taste with notes of leather, honey and figs.
A cognac as deep as the secret surrounding it, as admiring as its age.
About the producer Godet Cognac
The Godet family of Dutch origins has been based in La Rochelle since 1730 and the company 'Godet Frères' was founded in 1782. After successively Augustin Godet (1730), Gédéon Godet (1782), Gédéon jr. Godet (1838), Louis and Paul Godet (Rapeneau), Jean Godet (1920), Jacques Godet (1970) and Jacques Godet (1984), the helm is nowadays owned by the latter and his son Jean-Edouard Godet, who is also a master blender. Brothers Cyril Godet and Maxime Godet also play an important role within the company.
The Godet family was initially involved in the sale of wine and from there focused more and more on the production of cognac. To drastically reduce the transport costs of the wines at the time, it was decided around La Rochelle to separate the wine alcohol from the water and only ship the wine alcohol to Amsterdam. After all, there was enough water in Holland! La Rochelle therefore became the epicenter of the Cognac industry, the Godet company is now the only cognac house that is actually still located in La Rochelle.
