Port is fantastic for gastronomic use.
These fantastic limited edition blends are fully matured and ready to enjoy straight away. Truly the icing on the cake! Also a wonderful gift to give away to special friends. Well, a gift to yourself is also allowed sometimes. This is a port that you can savour meditatively! The combinations with nutty cheeses such as Comté, Gruyère, or Emmentaler are brilliant. It is also delicious with a crème Bruléé, Dutch apple pie or just a handful of pecan nuts.
For the bottling of this Taylor’s Historical Collection Limited Edition Reserve Tawny Port III, Taylor’s also created a special bottle based on the antique bottles that were common a long time ago. This shape was common around 1750 and was the direct predecessor of the design of the port bottle as we know it today. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the shape of the wine bottle was constantly evolving. It has evolved gradually from the squat, bulbous shape of early glass vessels, used to transport wine from the wine merchant’s barrel to the consumer’s table, to the tall cylindrical shape of today’s bottles in which wine can be stored and matured. The Taylor’s Historical Collection Limited Edition Reserve Tawny range represents several stages in this evolution.
