In the mysterious world of Chichibu whisky, the real mastery of Ichiro Akuto comes to life in the unique Single Cask
Blended Red Wine Cask concept. This single was for 3.5 years
cask blended whiskey matured in prestigious Château Gruaund Larose
wine barrels, after which it is bottled as official Chichibu whisky.
Ichiro's talent, as owner and master blender of Chichibu, is still to come
better in this blend of single cask barrels.
Tasting note:
An inviting mix of almond cream, fudge,
rather loaded chocolate, candied violets
and dried pear emerges in the
nose. The slightly sweet entry to the palate
lives up to this expectation. Nose and
palate show the same malt/chocolate qualities. Hints of red peppercorns and
dark chocolate are rounded off with a
dry aftertaste. Allspice and a small dose
cinnamon linger, after the creamy
chocolate is gone.
