Founded in 1953, Azienda Agricola Molino is located near the ancient Benedictine monasteries of S. Martino di Marcenasco. A baroque building that now houses a wine museum in its wine cellars, dedicated to the history of Barolo. Here the family owns several well-known cru vineyards in the area. In 1979 Mauro Molino took over the vineyards of his deceased father with six years of experience under his belt. In 1973 Mauro graduated as an oenologist from the wine school of Alba and gained experience as a winemaker at a large cooperative in Emilia Romagna. Back home, the first Barolo was made in 1982 from the highly valued cru “Vigna Conca”. He also started making the other crus “Vigna Gancia and “Gallinotto”. In the following years the quality increased with experience. Over the years some vineyards were purchased to expand the portfolio. In total, the company owns 12 hectares. 50% consists of Barolo (La Morra) in addition to Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba and some Langhe Chardonnay and Roero Arneis. Matteo (1983) followed the same training as his father. In 2003, he became part of the family business and took responsibility for vineyard management at a young age. Matteo is very precise and strives to get the most out of the vineyards. Quality comes first. He has a good teacher in his father. Another important goal of Matteo is to work sustainably with respect for nature. In 2009, daughter Martina (1987) joined him. She also followed the same training. Modern facilities are used. For example, new temperature-controlled stainless steel vats were installed in 2007 and the cellar was expanded and renovated in 2013 to be able to guarantee the quality in the future. So far, this has been more than successful. Since the children joined, the quality has increased a little. But when you ask them, they deny it with all their modesty.
