In general, the “Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru” is produced in the same climate (“En Charlemagne”) as the “Charlemagne Grand Cru”. The soil is relatively steep composed of very white limestone marls. Until 1966, Corton Charlemagne only came from the Les Pougets climat and a small part of Corton Charlemagne. This is the case of Corton Charlemagne from the Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot produced on the “Pougets” climate, on 1.88 hectares. The soil there is calcareous brown with scree-silts on the slope. The subsoil is mainly marl-limestone. The soil is well drained and heats up easily (facing south).
