The Guillaume & Virginie Philip wine estate is run by Guillaume and his
wife Virginie Philip. In 2007 they made their first wine, the now
coveted MIP rosé. The vineyards are located at the foot of the
Sainte Victoire mountain in the Provençal municipality of Puyloubier. The soil around the
estate consists of clay, loam, sand and stones, an ideal composition for the
production of tasty and aromatic rosé wines. The vineyards mainly
contain syrah, grenache, cinsault and rolle (vermentino). Each plot
is vinified separately in order to be able to apply the perfect vinification method
per soil type. Due to the warm and dry climate, there are few diseases in the
vineyards and the use of pesticides is therefore hardly necessary. This environmentally friendly approach
naturally has a positive effect on the wines. They are fruity, elegantly spicy, floral and above all
wonderfully pure.
CLIMATE & TERROIR: A subtropical climate with warm summers
and fairly mild winters. The terroir has calcareous sandy and red
clay soil full of stones.
VINIFICATION: The grapes are pressed after a short skin maceration,
after which the juice ferments in cooled tanks. It then rests on its yeast sediment for about 4
months to develop an even more beautiful fruitiness.
GRAPES: syrah (60%), grenache (30%), vermentino (10%)
ALCOHOL PERCENTAGE: 12.50%
NOIS & TASTE: A light pink colour with fresh impressions of
citrus fruit, pear and red berries. The nose is expressive, quite powerful
and elegant and the finish is long with subtle spiciness. SERVING SUGGESTION: Delicious as an aperitif, with light meals,
barbecue and of course all the delicacies from the Provencal cuisine.
FACT: The wines of Guillaume & Virginie Philip have won awards at
numerous competitions, such as the Concours Général Agricole in Paris
