About vintage 2005
The 2005 harvest was hot and also wet for a few days. The production was high, but with small berries that concentrated the tannins and color. Careful sorting was done and overripe and dry grapes were removed. The wine from the very old vineyard Vinha da Pisca (where Niepoort Biomo 2008 also comes from) with hints of coffee and blackcurrant gave the final blend the desired freshness.
Tasting note
Full and rich in taste, dark and very intense. The nose is seductive and has a wonderfully rich scent, without smelling overripe. It is a sweet wine with a rich structure. The tannins are present, but fine and subtle.
