Flavour profile:
Attractive, ripe passion fruit, gooseberries
Vinification:
The grapes for the Rohe Blind River Sauvignon Blanc come from different parcels of the Bull Paddock Vineyard. After harvest, the individual parcels are fermented separately in stainless steel, in order to retain the unique character of all sub-regions. The wine is then matured ‘sur lie’ for at least 6 months, before all the juices are blended.
Wine and food pairings:
Shellfish, vegetarian dishes, goat cheese.

Background information:
Blind River is the driest, coolest and windiest sub-region of Marlborough. The soils of this sub-region, situated on the south coast of Marlborough, are defined by the Blind River catchment and consist of deep, well-drained loams over a diverse mix of rock materials.
A childhood dream was realised when owner John Neylon purchased fertile land near Spring Creek, Dillon’s Point and Rapaura, where he started growing apples and eventually became the largest apple grower in the region. The Neylon family decided to change course and exchange the orchards for vineyards. They had a grand mission: to go for the best quality. Grapes are hand-picked, ensuring only the best fruit is used. The water used for the vines comes from the Rapaura Spring, far away from the vineyards. This crystal clear and pure water from the Wairau River flows through the rocks and travels a 6-month journey to reach the vineyards. The word ‘Rapaura’ therefore means ‘running water’. Rapaura's wines are crystal clear and this has not gone unnoticed in the international press.
