Background:
The Bull Paddock Vineyard is located in the Dillons Point sub-region of Marlborough’s lower Wairau Valley, where Rapaura Springs claims to grow the finest Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough. The land was originally used for breeding bulls before the Neylon family realised the potential of the site and planted it with Sauvignon Blanc. Today, Bull Paddock wines represent the best of the region. Rapaura Springs’ Single Vineyard range of wines are sourced from the finest vineyards and represent the best of the Marlborough region. Produced in very limited quantities.
A childhood dream was realised when owner John Neylon purchased fertile land near Spring Creek, Dillon’s Point and Rapaura, where he began growing apples and eventually became the largest apple grower in the region. The Neylon family decided to change course and exchange the orchards for vineyards. They had a grand mission: to go for the best quality. Grapes are picked by hand, so that only the best fruit is used. The water used for the vines comes from the Rapaura Spring water source, far away from the vineyards. This crystal clear and pure water from the Wairau River flows through the rocks and travels a distance of 6 months to reach the vineyards. The word ‘Rapaura’ therefore means: flowing water. The wines of Rapaura are crystal clear and that does not go unnoticed in the international press.
