Smuggler’s Dutch Single Blended Whisky Special Edition PX cask

This blended whisky is dark, rich and luscious. The whisky expresses those typical notes that you would expect from a full maturation in a PX cask. In spite of the full maturation in a PX casks the first impression is fresh more than sweet. When you give the whisky a little time in your glass, the whisky shines with its warm and complex character. The unique qualities of this whisky come from the careful blending of three different pot still distilled whiskies.  First our single malt whisky, second our 5-grain whisky and finally our wheat whisky. After distillation all these whiskies had a full maturation in Pedro Ximenes casks that give the whisky its beautiful color and adds to the elegant sweetness and rich leathery notes.

Tasting notes:

Color: Dark Gold

Nose: Fresh and delicate when just poured but with a little time it develops into a deeper complex whisky that has a definite lemon and citrus character to balance those sweet PX notes. The full maturation has contributed to the complexity and has added warm aromas of dark chocolate, licorice and dried fruit but always balanced with the citrussy notes of fresh lemons and limes.

Taste: Luxurious and rich, wonderfully balanced. The sweetness from the PX casks balanced by the citrus aroma’s combined with a rich, warm dried fruits quality that probably comes from the casks and in the background the trademark licorice and chocolate notes.

Finish: Medium long and with an elegant and pleasant sweetness
