CLIMATE & TERROIR: A climate with warm summers and cold
winters. The terroir has elements of weathered granite and
slate.
VINIFICATION: After the intensive soaking period, the fermentation
continues. When approximately 8% has been reached, the process is stopped by
adding wine alcohol and the juice can mature on wood for a period of
(on average) 30 years.
GRAPES: touriga francesa, tinta roriz, touriga nacional
ALCOHOL PERCENTAGE: 20.00%
NOIS & TASTE: Brown-orange with a silky nose of
dried fruit, fresh nuts and herbs. The taste is powerful but
elegant with candied red and black fruit, complexity and a long
aftertaste.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve slightly chilled. Delicious with old
Gouda cheese. FACT: Every year, 1 to 2% of the maturing port evaporates from the barrels, the ‘port pipes’. This is called the ‘angel’s share’.
