The most famous and popular winery
The wine is produced by the South African winery Nederburg, which is located a few kilometres northeast of Paarl. It is one of the most famous and popular wineries in the Cape. Philippus Bernandus Wolvaart acquired a 49-hectare estate from the Dutch East India Company in 1791, where he built the mansion, which is now a listed building and built in Cape Dutch architecture. The Nederburg farm is idyllically situated between the Berg and Palmiet rivers in the surrounding landscape.

In 1937 Johann Georg Graue took over the winery and introduced new wine growing and production techniques such as cold fermentation, which was to be groundbreaking for the South African wine industry. With his pioneering spirit and courage to innovate, he founded a tradition that Nederburg has remained true to to this day. From the end of the 1940s, his son Arnoldus - also known as "Airhawk" (the falcon) - took over the wine production and introduced sterile bottling in order to be able to produce excellent wine of the highest quality. Cellar master Günter Brözel held this position for 33 years in Nederburg and became a winemaking legend of the 20th century. He rode his machine through the vineyards every morning to check the vines, which earned him the nickname "Motorcycle Marvel".

A crisp and fresh Chardonnay
The vines, located mainly on south to southwest-facing slopes, are harvested by hand in February. Once fermentation has started, 80 percent of the fermentation juice is transferred to a combination of new and second-fill French oak barrels, where the wine remains on the lees for about six months. Delicious aromas of lime and melon with vanilla-oak notes in the background. Crisp and fresh with a creamy texture and subtle citrus and melon aromas.
