The nose is full of jammy notes and leather. Blackcurrants, juicy raisins and sticky dates sit alongside maraschino cherries, malt loaf and fruity dark chocolate. Intensely rich palate, everything you want from a heavy Glenrothes. Stewed plums are dusted with charcoal, sweet and sour cherries, molasses and soft oak spice. Ginger cake and chocolate-covered crystallised ginger provide a backbone of sweetness countered by rich riverbank earth. The finish is that of polished oak, sticky jam and allspice mixed with brown sugar.
