Masseria Maìme is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Upper Salento, not far from the town of San Pietro Vernotico in the province of Brindisi. The estate extends along the coastline and forms a unique landscape of vineyards that lie between woods and pine forests that stretch as far as the eye can see until they merge with the sea. The most common grape varieties grown here are Negroamaro, Primitivo, Syrah, Cabernet and Chardonnay.
Neprica is an acronym derived from the three varieties from which it is made: NEgroamaro, PRImitivo, CAbernet sauvignon. It was first produced 20 years ago when the adventures of Tormaresca were just beginning and over time it has become one of the most representative wines of this estate. After 20 years, Neprica has become a family of three single varietal wines.
The grapes were destemmed, crushed and transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place for a period of 8-10 days at a controlled temperature not exceeding 26 °C. Malolactic fermentation was completed by the beginning of winter. The wine was further aged in stainless steel tanks for about 8 months and another 4 months in bottle.
The wine has an intense ruby red colour with purple hues. The nose offers dominant notes of red fruit and black cherries with light notes of candied fruit and liquorice. This wine has a soft attack, round, structured tannins and a pleasantly fruity finish.
Italy
Italy was traditionally called the land of wine by the Greeks. Wine is produced throughout the country, because the conditions for growing grapes are very favourable. There are enormous differences in climate throughout the country and hundreds of indigenous grape varieties are planted. It is relatively cool in the north and very hot in the south. The diversity of wines is therefore great.
Italy is best known for both classic wines for storing and sparkling wines as well as new, special wines. Well-known names are Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany. Prosecco, Ripasso and Amarone (made from grapes that have been dried for a few months after harvest) from Veneto. Powerhouses such as Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbero from Piemonte. Full, jam-like wines from Puglia and surprising wines from indigenous grape varieties from Sicily.
