Valserrano Rosado DO Rioja. This rosé is made from Garnacha Tinta grapes, with a small amount of Tempranillo harvested with a rigorous manual selection in the vineyard. Garnacha is the most widespread variety in all the countries of the Mediterranean area. In La Rioja it is mainly grown in the lower part of the Ebro valley. In higher altitude areas such as Rioja Alavesa, it is a minority and needs years of mild weather to give its best quality.

Vineyards
All the vineyards are located in the surroundings of the Rioja Alavesa, and almost all of them are in the municipality of Villabuena, a short distance from the winery, on sunny slopes that descend from the Sierra de Cantabria, which protects them from the north, towards the course of the Ebro River, in the south-southwest. With the fundamental criterion of maintaining the quality and character of our wines, very old and unproductive vineyards are preserved, while new plantations are brought into production. The average age of the vineyard is over 30 years.

Production and ageing:
The grapes arrive at the winery with whole bunches and once destemmed they enter the press, where they are kept for a while so that the must drains and the skins take on colour. They are then pressed slowly and with little pressure, to avoid herbaceous flavours and to maintain its light pink-salmon colour. We could say that it is a “Teardrop Rosé”.

Tasting:

– COLOUR: Pale pink with a slight salmon touch.
– AROMA: Tones of stone fruits and fresh strawberries. Base notes of sap and minerals such as peat, with a fresh and Atlantic finish.
– MOUTH: Subtle entry but with nerve. Fruity persistence and freshness in the aftertaste. With a pleasant acidity.
