The Vecchia Romagna Riversa 18 is an exceptionally refined wine distillate, an expert blend of brandy aged for a minimum of 18 years. The intense aromatic profile is the result of an aging process in different types of barrels. The small French oak barriques give structure and character, the larger Slavonian oak barrels provide roundness and a soft balance and the finish in barrels previously used for Amarone della Valpolicella gives intense and persistent characteristics.
Tasting Notes
Color: Warm amber with mahogany and gold.
Nose: Spicy with notes of tobacco leaves, ethereal hints of dried fruit and powerful notes of walnut and fig.
Taste: Smooth, intense and persistent. Candied fruit blends and spicy notes of cinnamon, chili and cloves. Then complex notes of walnut, tobacco leaves, coffee and fortified wine (Madeira). The finish on the Amarone della Valpolicella barrels gives the brandy a tannic touch which underlines the structure and balance of the drink.
Vecchia Romagna was founded in 1820, when the Buton family moved from France to Italy. They opened a distillery here in Bologna and after much experimentation the legendary brandy Vecchia Romagna was born. The original triangular bottle is still one of the unique characteristics of the brandy. The brandy is recognized, drunk and enjoyed worldwide. In 1999 Gruppo Montenegro took over the brand.
