"Eventually." 31 long years later, this exceptional Girvan is more than ready for all of us to enjoy! Distilled in 1991 and initially laid to rest in a refill Hogshead this brilliant single grain had quite some time to mature. It spent its last 18 months in a very fresh AMontillado Quarter cask, to give it additional depth and complexity. Wow! Wowie! What a stunning nose with hints of honey, the typical whiff of glue, powdered sugar, pine and a slight herbal essence. Super syrupy and seriously sticky. This beauty leaves long and thick tears in our tasting glasses. Yummy! The palate is punchy. Jaffa cakes, cumin and freshly squeezed blood oranges. Menthol. A very delicate finish with Szechuan pepper, caramel and a pinch of condensed milk. Extremely quaffable. Nowadays it is becoming increasingly more difficult to come across fabulous expressions like this Girvan. So, we can only be extremely happy that once again we have a winner on our hands!
